Born in Norfolk, Virginia, AzrielSt. Michael moved to Canada as a child. His
passion for writing began to show at the age of ten, when hewrote his first short story. In his early teens, Azriel discovered the writingsof Robert E. Howard, and his life-long love affair with fantasy fiction and artbegan.
In High school, he attendedcreative writing classes while studying music,
classical voice, guitar and song writing. After graduation,he continued to pursue his love
of music, travelling throughout Canada and the United Statesas a singer and guitarist in
various rock bands. However his love for writing stories remainedas strong as his
passion for music, and in 2000 Azriel started work on hisfirst full-length fantasy novel.
He spent the next six years creating and crafting agenerated world in which most of his stories and poems take place.
In 2007 he founded the Canadianrock band Jezebels Kiss along withdrummer Byron Black. In the same year hispoem Memoirs of a Dying King waspublished in a poetry compilation entitled ForeverSpoken, winning him the distinction of Editors Choice Award.
In the spring of 2008, Azrielbegan recording the debut effort, PositiveHostility
with producer Ryan Andersen, well-known for his work withCanadian rockers
Nickelback, IanThornley, Theory of a Deadman and USA’s Hinder.
Positive Hostility was released byDynasty Records Distribution in July 2009 and is available throughout NorthAmerica from your favourite music retailers as well as on internet sources suchas amazon.com and iTunes.
While writing the songs for thealbum, Azriel completed Bedtime Storiesfor
Naughty Children, abook of dark poetry now available exclusively through his fan page on Facebookcourtesy of Shemyaza Press and at selected bookstores.
Azriel is presently finishing up a new
Novel, Legend Of The Bloody Chalice, while performinglive at venues in Canada and the United States as a solo artist.
InNovember, 2011, Azriel teamed up with guitarist Brad Wilson and producer JeffWestlake for a new project based out of Toronto, Ontario, called Black Sun.
Black Sun arecurrently recording their debut album Edgeof Darkness in Ashland Kentucky at RidgelineStudios and expect a June release. USA tour dates begin in April, with Hydrogyn and Dio guitarist Tracy G, before heading to Europe inAugust.
