TRIBUNE'S BIOGRAPHY

Out of the chaotic roar of the embattled, yet still burgeoning Vancouver metal scene it seems that many voices are heard, but few are clearly distinct; one of the clearest, though, must be the voice of Burnaby-based Tribune. Likened to "a more evil God Forbid" by Absolute Underground reviewer Mike Gignac, Tribune nonetheless maintain "...an army of hooks and a high degree of accessibility." Appreciative of varying styles of music, the members of Tribune blend multiple differing musical visions into a cohesive, unique sound which is undeniably heavy metal and still carries powerful enough melodies to appeal to fans of other genres. Riding high on the 2009 release of their Corpse Corrosion Music EP, Rotting Core, Tribune is preparing for Rottingtour, their 2010 tour of Western Canada, which will hit the road in September.

Tribune Originated in 2004 in Campbell River, on Vancouver Island under the name Blacklist and was comprised of Terry Anderson(guitar), Jason Brown(drums), and Jess Garner(bass). Anderson had recruited his childhood friend Bryan Baker(vocals) from nearby Courtenay, and Baker soon moved to the band house in C.R. to better integrate with the team. Garner was soon replaced by the band's long-term friend Ryan O'Shea on the bass, and 2005 saw the group relocating to Courtenay and changing their name to Tribune. The band soon became known up and down the Island for their unique style and their hard-nosed work ethic. Inspired by C.R. alumni and Vancouver metal scene veterans The Joint Chiefs, Tribune in 2006 took their act to Vancouver, and through Baker, were soon introduced to Shawn Culley(guitar), who within months became the other guitarist of the band.

Since then Tribune has been making their presence known in the Vancouver scene and beyond, both playing shows and putting shows on across B.C. and Alberta. Living for years in the same house has forged bonds of friendship between the members which are the source of the band's co-operative spirit. With Tons of grass-roots support and the label structure weakened by the Internet, Tribune has been doing it themselves very successfully, attracting more and more new fans with every show they play. Believing their live show to be their best asset, Tribune is prepared to go anywhere they need to go to bring their message to the people.
