Langley, British Columbia, Canada quartet YUCA skilfully redraw therock & roll design, digging deeper creative wells and addingfamiliar yet innovative horizons. In YUCA’s music there are discoveriesof new depths and dimensions in their song writing, melodies and lyrics.

One moment Matt’s vocal gentleness will envelop and you’ll feel as ifothers can hear your heart beat and the next second he’ll soar high andlead you to someplace new. Justin’s anthemic guitars are equallycomfortable setting ambiance as he is tearing up a wicked solo/shredding. Andy and Dave are the foundation that propels the music fromthe soul-pounding rhythms to a heart stopping pin drop.

Their debut self titled album was recorded and produced by John Macleanand YUCA at The Factory Studios in Vancouver BC and mastered by GeorgeMarino (Coldplay, AC/DC, Nirvana) at Sterling Sound in New York. Withover 350 plus tour dates under their belt, the buzz getting louder andlouder, and their sights set on the US, UK and Europe, this band isready to be on the road this year.

When it comes to YUCA’s music, the band has a rule “write what comesnaturally”. And what comes naturally is best described as “infectious,uplifting, emotional & passionate music with hints of The Beatles,U2, Radiohead, Muse and Elbow”. This music has led the band to winmultiple competitions and awards for their live show and song writing.Here’s is a few accolades:

Their live shows, dubbed “a live experience”, are celebrated, untamedaffairs that see their soulful songs expanding endlessly andincredibly. YUCA have already shared the stage with The Killers, AFI,Metric, De La Soul, The Trews, Lifehouse, Hot Hot Heat, Billy Talent,Theory of a Deadman, Armchair Cynics, Kim Mitchell and Econoline Crush.The band has also performed multiple times on Urban Rush TV, Global TV,CTV and even as a musical guest for a pilot show.

More recently YUCA was asked to represent BC for the 2010 WinterOlympics in Vancouver at the Robson Square Celebration Site. The bandperformed 3 times throughout the games to an incredible response fromthe local and international fans. “That was such an incredible time forus, with the most amazing fans from all over the world. We werehonoured to be a part of something so global and to look back and saythat we were able to not only be there but perform for the games – howcool is that?” said Matt Borck.

In addition, YUCA’s single was chosen on the soundtrack for the SegaVancouver 2010 video game. When you meet the band in person or duringtheir performances on stage, you’ll find that the four young men ofYUCA have an engaging humility and with a genuine smile. They are morethan brothers; they are adventurers willing to take their music to newfrontiers.
